Regional Laboratory Assistant Manager, Cytology

The regional laboratory assistant manager directs and controls the day-to-day Regional Laboratory Cytology Department operations including all personnel activities, technical oversight and work flow. Responsibilities include monitoring productivity, personnel utilization, overtime, material usage rates, analyzing fluctuations in types and volumes of tests, and implementing corrective actions. In this position, you will ensure that the staff provides members with high-quality, cost-effective, and client-focused clinical laboratory services in a safe work environment that comply with organizational policies and local, state, and federal requirements. You will also ensure competency, motivate and encourage professional growth, design and implement effective risk control processes, and lead in the research of new or improved test development methodologies.

Current California cytotechnologist licensure is required for this position, as is ASCP certification. Additional courses in business administration or management preferred. Five or more years of experience in a high-volume cytology laboratory is required, as is three or more years of supervisory/managerial experience. A minimum of five years of experience in a complex health care delivery system, with at least three years of recent progressive supervisory/management responsibilities, is highly desirable. Proven strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrable experience in project management, quality systems, process mapping, and regulatory compliance is a must. Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and independently meet deadlines.
